Three Little Birds Sewing Co
Learn to Quilt Series (4 Weeks)
This class is designed for the sewist interested in making their first quilt. Class will cover: piecing together the quilt top, basting, quilting options, and how to install a binding. Students will use In This Corner by Denyse Schmidt to complete their quilt top.
Skill level: Adult Beginner. Students should be comfortable on a sewing machine and be able to thread and wind a bobbin on their own. Students will be expected to complete "homework" in between classes to make sure we stay on schedule.
What you'll need:
All students receive a 10% discount on supplies for class.
- In This Corner Pattern by Denyse Schmidt
- See photo for fabric requirements. We would suggest making the baby size quilt but this quilt is easily customizable, so making it larger is possible.
- Coordinating thread for piecing and for quilting (instructor will discuss different thread types during class)
- Quilt Batting
- Basting (curved) safety pins
All students are required to bring their own scissors, pins, marking pens, rotary cutter & ruler. Students are welcome to use our sewing machines & irons/ironing boards. If you'd like to bring your own machine, please let us know prior to class.
Prep work (optional): If you'd like to spend more timing sewing during class, rather than cutting, you may come to class with all of your pieces already cut. The pattern calls for 9" squares of both your background and accent fabrics. The number of squares will depend on the size you are making. Refer to the pattern for details.
