Longarm Certification Course

Tired of basting your quilts and shoving them through your home machines? Rent time on one of longarm machines and finish your quilt without breaking your back. 

This course is required before renting any of our longarm machines. Once this course is taken, students can make appointments to rent one of the longarm machines*. Students will learn:

• How to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, and adjust tension
• Load the quilt onto the frame
• The basics of free motion quilting (loops, swirls, etc).
• How to advance the quilt on the frame

During this course, you'll receive a kit containing: 1 bobbin & bobbin case, a pack of needles, a small screwdriver to adjust bobbin tension, and a brush to clean out the machine.  Students will be required to bring this kit with them during their machine rentals. 

This course is a lecture/demo with some hands on instruction. Students will not be working on their own projects as the machines will be shared during the course. All materials will be provided.

This course will focus on our two Handi Quilter Machines that are on frames:

HQ Moxie on a 8ft frame 

HQ Amara 20 on a 12ft frame 

RENTAL TIME

Once this course is completed, students are certified to schedule rental machine time on their own. Rentals are available by appointment only. Students wishing to schedule rental time should email threelittlebirds.sewingco@gmail.com. Cost for rental is $20/hour with a two hour minimum. *If rental time is not taken within 6 months of this course, a refresher course is required.
