Cathedral Windows -- Quilting Techniques Class
$ 65.00
The Cathedral Windows pattern was a popular choice during the 1930s and was inspired by the stained class of cathedrals. Traditionally, this was all hand pieced with no batting.
In this class, students will explore using this technique with a sewing machine. We'll aim to make a pillow sized sample but this method will allow you to turn it into a larger quilt if desired.
Skill level: Advanced Beginner and up. Must know how to thread a machine, wind a bobbin, and follow a seam allowance.
What you'll need:
Students receive 10% off on any supplies purchased for class.
Fabric requirements will depend on what you plan on doing with your finished blocks. You'll need more if you plan on turning your piece into a larger quilt.
If using precut 5" charm packs:
- 1 charm pack for background (this is the fabric in between the windows)
- 1 charm pack for "window panes"
- 1 charm pack for the "glass"
- Coordinating thread
If using yardage:
- 3/4 yard of 3 different fabrics or 3/4 yard of background and "window pane" fabric and assorted scraps for the "glass"
Please bring your own scissors, pins, rotary cutters, and rulers. Sewing machines are provided, but let us know if you prefer to bring your own.
