We had such a great response to our first show that we're doing it again! We're please to announce:
Metamorphosis/Change Quilt Show
Autumn is the very soul of metamorphosis, a time when the world is poised at the door of winter - which is the door of death - but has not yet fallen. It is a world of contradictions: a time of harvest and plenty but also of cold and hardship. Here we dwell in the midst of life, but we know most keenly that all things must pass away and shrivel. Autumn turns the world from one thing into another. The year is seasoned and wise but not yet decrepit or senile. -- Catherynne M. Valente
"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower." - Albert Camus
"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall." - F. Scott Fitzgerald
"Notice that autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature." - Friedrich Nietzsche
We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” – Maya Angelou
As Fall approaches, it often represents a time of transition -- both spiritually and environmentally. The leaves change color, the days get shorter, the weather cooler. It is a time to reflect and embrace change. It seems as though everything is experiencing a metamorphosis.
For this show, we are asking participants to interpret whatever metamorphosis or change means to them, whether it be abstract or literal. There are no color limits/expectations.
